Handful Of Stars 3 Stars Rubric Rating: 14/24
This wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read but this did have a good main plot as Lily and Salma being friends and earning money for Lucky’s operation . The setting for time and place really makes it the story. For example, Lily and Salma live in the migrant worker time. Another example is that Lily lives near a migrant worker camp. I can a lot of connections with this ‘cus, this is realistic fiction instead of monster and dragons kind of fiction. I put a star rating just ‘cus this is a realistic fiction book. Same thing with the rubric rating, I really want to stress that this is a realistic fiction book.

HAND FUL OF STARS 2 STARS 12/24
The book Hand Full of Stars is a book that I would not enjoy reading again. At the pageant I could guess that Hannah was going to win. Then when Salma said maybe we could buy other dog for lucky. I knew that they were going to get the dog. I had a text to self-connection. One time at a festival we almost bought a dog. For the book Hand Full of Stars I gave it two stars, because the book was like any other book in the world. The rubric rating I gave it a 12/24. I loved all the characters. Then I did think the interest in the book was very low. The book Hand Full of Stars was good but I don’t think I will read it again.

Tittle: A Handful Of Stars 5 stars 24/24
This book was stunning. I gave it 5 stars out if 5 stars. The interest was high when Salma entered the Blueberry Queen contest. You could see the setting appear in front of you. The characters were really life like, as if they were real. It was also super original. I have not read anything like it. The main idea of the story is when Salma enters the Blueberry Queen contest. Tiger Lilly has a blind dog named Lucky. Not too lucky, is he? Lilly got a booth at the Blueberry Queen contest, because she wants to put old Lucky through surgery to help him see. Salma didn’t think that was a very good idea, so she gave the money she earned to the Humane Society group. She wanted Lilly to get another dog to lead Lucky, and for him to have a friend. Tiger Lilly didn’t want to listen to her, though she knew she was right. But then she found Rosy, a super cute, sweet puppy. She had to get her. That is why I gave this book a 24/24.

A Handful of Stars 2 ½ stars 12/24
A handful of stars is a good book. I found it not really interesting though. The most interesting part was the pagent. It was exiting to see who would win! The setting was ok, I could get a picture in my mind. I deffently thought it could be better. When they described the blue berry barnds I had a great picture in my mind, of all the bule berrys .
I loved the characters. The three friends –Tigerlily, Slama, and Hanna. They were all diferent but, they had great friendship. The originality was awesome I never read a book like this ,really the main idea was blue berrys! I think it was a good book but not the best, I gave it two and ahalf stars out of five! I think Salma could have ended up stayingor something. To my disipointment she did not stay! That’s why I gave it twelve out of twenty four.

A Handful Of Stars 5 stars 23/24

Have you ever met a friend when your dog ate their lunch? Well, Lily has. She is from a book called A Handful Of Stars.
A Handful Of Stars is a great book. It is about a girl named Tigerlily that meets a migrant worker named Salma. They meet when, you guessed it, Lily’s dog eats Salma’s lunch. Lucky (the dog) is blind, and Lily and Salma are earning money for an operation by selling bee houses. The book is based on the blind dog. I gave it this rating (23/24) because it has amazing plot language, interest, characters, organization, and originality. It doesn’t have a very good setting, though. My evidence is: The text says, “The only reason I ever spoke to Salma Santiago was because my dog ate her lunch.” That interested me. The story went along very smoothly, because it was so well organized. The text also says that Salma and Lily are selling bee houses to help Lucky. That is a good plot. I have never read a story where someone befriended a migrant worker. That proves originality. Make sure to read A Handful Of Stars!

A Handful of Stars 3 stars 11/16
Award-winning author, Cynthia Lord’s book ”A Handful of Stars ”is not the kind of book you would expect. The plot language is ok, because there is not enough details and it was pretty zoomed out. The details that are in the story didn’t really support the main events. Readers who like books with fast paces would really find this book that interesting. The author did a good job of describing the setting in Maine and the blueberry festival and peagent. The characters are somewhat memorable and will be in your head for a month or two. I can relate these characters to the characters in the movie Macfarland because they both have migrant workers in them.

Handful of Stars 3 stars 23/24
I like Handful of Stars a lot. It was quiet a coincedence how Salma and Lily became friends. I have a conec tion. Me and my best friend Ryland became friends when I got a ball for him that went into a bush. I like the way that the characters were set up in the book. Every character had a key role in the story. It also had a very unique setting. It was really nice; on the blueberry farm. Not many stories have a setting in Maine. It is also original. I have never read a story about a girl that is working on a farm and wants to be in a blueberry pageant and wants to be in it. I have also never heard of a blueberry fest. I have heard of the Yellow Daisy fest. These are all the reasons I gave Handful of Stars a 3 star rating.

A Handful of Stars 3 ½ stars 20/24 rubric rating

Have you ever had a dog that was blind? Well, Lily does. Let me tell you about A Handful of Stars.
Handful of Stars is an okay book. I love the originality, and I have never seen anything close to the topic. I love the setting, too! For example, “On the outside, the cabin was painted light blue with white trim, as cute as a dollhouse.” I can make a connection to when Lucky was running in the fields, because my dog used to always run away.
On the other hand, I didn’t like the plot. I understand one of the obstacles is Lucky being blind, but that sort of gets swallowed up in the rest of the book. The characters could have more realistic, for most of the characters I had to make up in my head. Because of those cons, I gave this a 20/24 rubric rating and a 3 ½ / 5 stars.
As you can see, A Handful of Stars is a good book.

A Handful of Stars 3 ½ stars 19/24
I enjoyed A Handful of stars because of the descriptive text and how the book has a voice. I also liked how the book seems to have a sad ending, with Hannah winning the blueberry pageant and all, Then they get Rosy so that lucky can see (sort of). I rated A Handful of Stars 31/2 stars because I loved the text, but I didn’t particularly care for the storyline. Another reason I enjoyed this book is because of how the sections flow together. Now you know why I liked the book A Handful of Stars

A Handful of Stars 3/5 stars 19/24 rating from rubric I thought that A Handful of Stars was okay. But the book itself did not make me excited about the story. One of the reasons I liked the book was because that it had some awesome characters. I can relate to Salma because I used to move a lot also. I once had a dog that used to eat every thing but finally, we got him to stop eating everything. I liked A Handful of Stars because I had a lot of connections to this book. This is why I give Handful of Stars 19/24 rating from rubric and 3/5 stars.

Olivia, you have a lot of connections. this improved what I thought about your post. but a critique I have is that you didn't really have any evidence sited from the text.

Handful of stars Five stars 24 rubric rating

Handful of stars is an amazing book. Some are the way the author uses the plot language. An example form the book is, “As I cooked the whole house smelled bluelicious.’’ The book also had good interest. One example from the book is, ‘’Memere can carry on several conversations even in different tones at the same time.’’ This is a good leveled sentence for me to understand. The setting is very visual. For evidence, ’’Salma coughed at the cloud of hair spray.’’ The characters are very life-like. Some evidence is that Salma is a migrant worker who wants to be remembered so she enters a beauty pageant, hoping to win. Meanwhile Lily (her best friend) is very supportive for her hopes. This is why I gave this book five stars and a 24 rubric rating.
